Solid Food!

Jasper took solid food for the first time yesterday!  He did pretty well. He may have been more interested in the spoon than in what was on it, but for his first time, he did great!

Let's chunk up those chubby cheeks even more!

Sitting Up

Jasper was sitting up on his own today... For a little while at least!  I think we need to work on those abs!

The Proud Lion

We just noticed that Jasper has recently gotten even more comfortable on his play mat. A week ago, we'd start him on his back, and he's immediately roll onto his stomach. He'd be content for a minute or two but then he'd stay skwaking. 

Since yesterday, though, after a start on his back, he rolls to his belly. Instead on flailing a bit uncertainly, he arches his back and neck and surveys the room proudly.  

The look on his face is a tiny bit smug, and definitely evokes the comparison to the lion surveying his kingdom. 

Captain Rollo!

Today was a big day. Christie put Jasper down in the mat today and stepped into the next room.  She saw him trying to move and begin rocking onto his sides. She said "He is really trying."

The contractor working on our bathroom noticed it first, while walking through the living room.  "He did it.".

Watch out now. 

Giggled

Jasper giggled today.  What a wonderful sound.

Trying to Sit

Jasper's has been enjoying his swing, but recently he's been extra pumped up.  The little man has been beginning to sit up in his swing!  Getting so big and tough!

Mirror

Our little Jasper is so vain!

He seemed utterly fascinated by himself in the mirror today.

Of course that'll happen when your mother and sister tell you "You're so handsome" for ten minutes at a time, many times a day.

Magic Crib

For his first few weeks, Jasper slept in the bassinet, in our bedroom. A couple nights ago, we put Jasper down to bed in his crib, in his room.  The little champ slept nearly eight hours!

Awesome.  I guess we'll keep him.

More Smiles!

Jasper keeps giving more and more smiles to us!  I was feeding him a bottle at dinnertime, and it was actuallya bit challenging because he kept pausing from drinking to smile at me.  Definitely OK with me.

Also, we just put him into his crib for the night tonight.  Fingers crossed!

Smile

Christie stood over Jasper in the basinette and said, "Hi, little Jasper.  I love you."

Today marks the first day he responded.  The little man gave his Momma smiles.  

Momma was walking on air for hours.

Pee Milk

We washed Jasper in his plastic tub, atop the kitchen counter, next to the sink.

A few cups from dinner were next to the tub.  One of them was Violet's half finished cup of milk.

About a minute into the bath, Jasper fires off a fountain of pee, that not only leaves the bath, but hits the cup of milk.

Good aim!

Super Poop!

Another poop post!  (Of course, with a two-week-old, the breadth of material is somewhat limited.)

Christie got to change Jasper's poop diaper, and let's say that Jasper kept creating in it while she worked.

Good stuff.

Boom!

Changing Jasper revealed some unpleasantness today.

Let's just say he'd gone eight days since pooping.  And today... Boom!

The little man arrived a little over a week ago.  He arrived quickly; we barely made it to the hospital!  But he and momma are both healthy.
